Tulsa Community College and Chacraseca have initated a partnership grounded in the opportunities for service-learning. The experienced, gifted community leaders in Chacraseca are providing service opportunities in their community, supplemented by education and reflection opportunities that help students learn about the systemic causes of the problems they are engaged in.
In 2010 and 2011 a group of
Nursing Students traveled to Chacraseca to learn about rural health care and assist with community health education projects. Together the two communities are also developing other long-distance learning opportunities that will involve mutual exchanges of teachers, students, and community participants.
