Above Santa Emilia, atop one of the rainforest mountains, lies the community of LaFlor. There, 55 families are trying to eke out a living with no electricity, no clean water, and no health or social services.

The only access to LaFlor is an old foot bridge across the river, which means that anything brought in (supplies, blocks to build, food) or anything brought out (crops) must be carried on backs up and down steep paths and across the bridge to the highway. The housing is ramshackle and the needs overwhelming, but their hope is deep and gutsy.

JustHope is currently working to develop a leadership council in LaFlor and JustHope Partners have collaborated with the community to builda a Community Center and to develop a clean water project for the residents of LaFlor.  Other projects that the partners are dreaming about together include efforts to improve housing and provide more access to health care.
